How do I input video for recording onto Blu-ray discs?

The SR-HD1250US and SR-HD1500US allow you to input video in several ways:

  1. AVCHD.  If your source device (camcorder, etc.) bears the "AVCHD" logo, the Blu-ray recorder will find and transfer your video files from your camcorder if connected with a USB cable, or from an SD/SDHC card.
  2. MOV.  The SR-HD1500US will accept MOV files that were created by the JVC GY-HM100U or GY-HM700U ProHD camcorders provided that the files were recorded in either the 19Mbps or 25Mpbs modes.  The files should be transferred directly from the camera's SDHC card.   MOV files created by other devices will not work.
  3. HDV / DV.  If your source device (camcorder, etc.) bears the "HDV" or "DV" logo, the Blu-ray recorder will find and transfer your video files from your camcorder when connected with a Firewire (iLink) cable.  A computer output of DV or HDV format will in many cases not be compatible with these recorders.
  4. HDD Everio.   You may transfer your video files from a JVC Everio camcorder to the recorder using a USB cable.
  5. COMPOSITE / S-VIDEO.  Any standard definition source can be plugged into either the composite or Y/C (S-video) connector on the rear panel, and recorded to the unit's built-in hard disk drive.
  6. BLU-RAY / DVD.   Non-copy-protected material that has been recorded on either a Blu-ray or DVD disc may be transferred to the unit's built-in hard disk drive, and then recorded to a new disc.   To transfer the entire contents and menu structure, use the disc dubbing mode.

Please note that in all cases, the video must first be transferred to the Blu-ray recorder's internal hard disc drive prior to burning a  Blu-ray or DVD.   Disc burning can be performed faster than real time.
